PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
REVIEW OF CONTINENCE SERVICES (13 July 1998)
Motion Details
That this House welcomes Her Majesty's Government's plans to review the provision of continence services as announced on 7th May; welcomes the NHS Executive's meeting to review continence services on 12th June; expresses concern that the NHS Executive has made no visible progress in issuing national or draft guidance; notes that unless guidance is issued to local health authorities before the annual autumn purchasing round for 1999-2000 cuts will continue and will not be reversed before late 2000; further notes that this situation will force the development of a retail market in continence products and will remove essential NHS care for 3.5 million people; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to issue clear guidance to local health authorities on continence services before the purchasing round commences.
