PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
STADIUM FOR THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES IN 2002 (12 July 1998)

Motion Details

That this House believes that the World Cup has been enhanced by the magnificent Stade de France, which has enabled the French nation to demonstrate its prowess in design, architecture and engineering; further believes that the 2002 Commonwealth Games to be held in Manchester offer a similar opportunity to the nation; and therefore urges the Government and all concerned, to ensure that a modern state of the art stadium is built for the games which demonstrates the best of British architecture, engineering and design.
