SELECT COMMITTEE ON HUMAN AND OTHER GENETIC ENGINEERING (27 February 1997)

Motion Details

That this House is of the opinion that in view of the political implications inherent in the issues of human and other genetic engineering, a Select Committee be appointed to examine the issues involved; that the Committee do consist of 11 honourable Members; that the Committee be nominated by the Committee of Selection; that three be the quorum of the Committee; that the Committee have power to send for persons, papers and records, to sit notwithstanding any adjournment of the House, to adjourn from place to place within the United Kingdom and to report from time to time; and that the Committee have power to appoint persons with technical knowledge either to supply information which is not readily available or to elucidate matters of complexity within the Committee's order of reference.
