PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
MENTALLY HANDICAPPED AND RESIDENTIAL CARE (12 December 1995)
Motion Details
That this House urges Her Majesty's Government to respond positively to the case for residential and village communities for people with mental handicap argued in the pamphlet, Made to Care, by the Baroness Cox and the Lord Pearson of Rannoch; and believes that local health and social service authorities should act to create such special provision, including conversion of some existing mental handicap hospitals, in response to family wishes, which have been revealed by a survey conducted recently by the National Society for Mentally Handicapped People in Residential Care as being the favoured option.
