PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
HOME ENERGY EFFICIENCY SCHEME (8 December 1995)
Motion Details
That this House deeply regrets the Government's decision to remove ú31 million from the budget of the Home Energy Efficiency Scheme; is concerned that the budget cut will mean the loss of over 1,000 jobs and result in almost 200,000 fewer homes being assisted in the next year; recognises the unique contribution of this scheme in bringing social, economic, environmental and employment benefits; is aware that changes to eligibility within the scheme will deny assistance to many thousands of people on a low income; and calls on the Government to reverse its decision and maintain the budget of ú100 million next year.
