SRI LANKA (20 November 1995)
Motion Details
That this House is appalled at the plight of over 500,000 people fleeing the Jaffna peninsula in Sri Lanka; is deeply concerned at the refusal of the Sri Lanka government to allow humanitarian aid to be independently delivered; calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities to allow unconditional peace talks; further calls upon Her Majesty's Government and other governments to halt all arms sales and deliveries and use their good offices to promote a lasting constitutional settlement and further notes that over 5,000 people marched through London in support of these aims on Saturday, 18th November with no British media coverage.
