PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
EU ENLARGEMENT WITH ROMANIA AND BULGARIA (23 November 2004)

That this House welcomes the UK's role as the champion of EU enlargement; notes the progress achieved by Romania and Bulgaria in preparing for membership and their governments' resolute efforts to address remaining critical issues; urges the Government to continue to support Romania and Bulgaria to conclude accession negotiations in 2004 and join the EU in 2007, in accordance with the calendar agreed at the Brussels European Council in December 2003; expresses concern at the attitude of individual members of the European Parliament in attempting to stall the process of enlargement; and supports constructive co-operation at all levels with the accession countries.
