PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
AMENDMENT OF VACCINE DAMAGE PAYMENT ACT 1979 (15 April 1996)

Motion Details

That this House calls upon the Government to amend the Vaccine Damage Payment Act 1979 by removing the six year time limit on the period in which claims can be made, thereby unjustly barring some families from at least having their claims investigated; urges that the payment should cover all degrees of disability, particularly because presently claimants must be at least 80 per cent. disabled, and also that greater provision is made for all vaccine damaged persons in order to adequately compensate them for the injuries they have suffered in the interests of public health policy; and notes that 17 years after the passage of this Act that section 3(c) has not been amended to address these problems:.
