PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
MILLENNIUM EXHIBITION (No. 2) (28 February 1996)

Motion Details

That this House believes that the Millennium celebrations should be a time for fun and enjoyment but that it should also provide a lasting legacy; welcomes the prospect of job creation and economic regeneration; believes that the decision to base the exhibition in Greenwich provides an opportunity to improve public transport and bring the River Thames back into use a transport highway; welcomes proposals for a tram link from Greenwich Town Centre to the Millennium site and believes this should be extended to Woolwich, Abbey Wood and Thamesmead; and calls for work to start immediately on the Woolwich Rail Tunnel.
