PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
WORLD OSTEOPOROSIS DAY (20 June 1996)
Motion Details
That this House supports World Osteoporosis Day whose purpose is to increase awareness of this serious and increasingly common condition where the skeleton becomes so porous that bones break very easily; notes with concern that the condition affects more than 30 per cent. of all women over 50 years of age and at least one in 12 men; welcomes the initiatives being promoted by the National Osteoporosis Society; urges health authorities and trusts to provide the services recommended for the identification and treatment of osteoporosis suffers by the Department of Health's Advisory Board in November 1994; looks forward to further developments to reduce suffering and distress; and therefore supports World Osteoporosis Day and its goals.
