TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE RACE RELATIONS ACT 1976 (17 June 1996)
Motion Details
That this House welcomes the 20th Anniversary of the Race Relations Act 1976 and its aims of promoting a society free from racial discrimination on the grounds of a person's colour, ethnic origin, race or nationality; congratulates the Commission for Racial Equality and its Commissioners established under the Act for the work undertaken in the last 20 years in attempting to achieve this laudable aim; and calls on all political parties to campaign for a just society which gives everyone an equal chance to learn, work and live free from discrimination and prejudice, and from the fear of racial harassment and violence.
