PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
RACIAL VIOLENCE AND THE CASE OF MUKTAR AHMED (21 November 1994)
Motion Details
That this House, noting that the incidence of racist violence is at its worst level in Britain for several decades, protests against the failure of the criminal justice system to apprehend and bring to justice any more than one of the 20 people responsible for the attack on Muktar Ahmed in Bethnal Green, East London, in February; notes that this is the latest in a long line of failures of the legal system to deal with racist violence and murders; and considers that a new law to create a specific criminal offence of racist violence with definite penalties is urgently required.
