PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
HABITUAL RESIDENCE TEST (19 December 1994)
Motion Details
That this House is deeply concerned about the effects of the habitual residence test on both British citizens and those with right of abode returning to the United Kingdom; notes that the test is being used to prevent vulnerable people from claiming benefits, for example, a young mother and her 10 month old baby now residing in York who had recently returned from Cyprus to live in the United Kingdom; and calls upon the Government to abolish this test immediately.
