PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ADRIAN SPENCER AND THE RUGBY FOOTBALL UNION (14 December 1994)
Motion Details
That this House condemns the 12 month ban imposed by the Rugby Football Union on the Cambridge University Rugby Union player and undergraduate student, Adrian Spencer, on the basis of his involvement with Rugby League; notes that his association with the 13-a-side code was as an amateur with London Broncos RLFC; and believes that, in view of the fact that the Inland Revenue has now established that top level Rugby Union is at least as professional as top level Rugby League, the Rugby Football Union is once again guilty of the disgraceful hypocrisy which has no place in the sporting activities of a civilised society.
