PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ACUTE AND SPECIALIST HOSPITAL SERVICES IN LONDON (9 March 1995)
Motion Details
That this House notes that during the night of 6th March a patient with severe head injuries in Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup, was air-lifted to Leeds as no place for treatment could be found at a closer neuro-surgery unit; regrets that the patient subsequently died and sends its sincerest condolences to his family and friends; calls on the Secretary of State to conduct an urgent investigation and to make an early statement to the House; believes this incident reflects the pressure on acute beds in London; and calls on the Secretary of State to introduce a moratorium on acute bed reductions in London and to establish an urgent review of London's health care needs.
