PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
IRAQI ATTACK ON KURDISH SAFE HAVENS (2 March 1995)
Motion Details
That this House is alarmed at the armed incursion by Iraqi armed forces into the Kurdish safe havens; calls for an immediate halt to the fighting and for the governments of the United Kingdom and the United States of America in particular to demand the immediate withdrawal of Iraqi troops from the Chem Chamal region and any other areas where they have intruded; notes that this action follows the revelation that Saddam Hussein has failed to comply with various resolutions on the destruction of his weapons of mass destruction and has actually sought to secrete missiles of biological warfare from the United Nations inspectors; believes that signals from some government and commercial interests has led him to conclude that he can attack Iraqi Kurdistan without fear of retribution and calls on the United Nations Security Council to condemn his actions and demand the withdrawal of his forces immediately.
