PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
Remarks of the Hon Member for Calder Valley and Calderdale Council (8 May 1990)
Motion Details
That this House deplores the comments made to the press by the honourable Member for Calder Valley, which undermine the sincere efforts made by Calderdale Council to appeal against the proposed poll tax capping in 1990/91; condemns the honourable Member for Calder Valley for actively supporting a cut in Calderdale Council's budget of ú7.5 million, which, if implemented, will seriously harm services to the elderly, the disabled, and the young; calls upon the honourable Member for Calder Valley to withdraw his claim that cuts of this magnitude can be made without affecting services and making people redundant; and urges him to start fighting for Calderdale instead of trying to ingratiate himself with the Prime Minister.
