PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ADVERTISERS AND "THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST" (No. 2) (18 June 1995)
Motion Details
That this House welcomes the initiative of Tesco Stores plc and World Vision Child Sponsorship in securing compensation from Channel 4 for broadcasting their adverts in association with the film The Last Temptation of Christ; believes that it makes good ethical and commercial sense for advertises to be concerned with the programmes their adverts are associated with, and hopes that the other companies who advertised their products in association with the same film, namely: Synergie Laboratoire Garnier Paris, Ibuleve gel-muscular paid relief, Optrex ear drops, Mars ice cream, Barclaycard, Flora margarine, Micra-Nissan, Vauxhall-50/50, British Telecom, Sun Alliance, Miller Filter draft beer, Royal Bank of Scotland Mastercard, Vauxhall Network Q, Orange Digital mobile phones, BP petrol, Caffrey's beer, Sony Handy Camcorder Video, Peugeot 306, BP on the move, Renault Laguna, Nike Sportswear, IBM Think Pad, Woolworths true romance videos, Vaseline anti-perspirant, Adidas sportswear, American Express travellers cheques, Wilkinson's Sword lady protector shaver, Orangina, Chatterbox Call Line and Nokia mobile phones, will follow Tesco's and World Vision's lead in protesting to Channel 4 at the way in which their products were compromised by being associated with such an offensive film.
