PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
MR SUNDAY OGUNWOBI (21 May 1995)
Motion Details
That this House notes that Sunday Ogunwobi, a church and community leader, and his family have now been living in sanctuary in Hackney Downs Baptist Church for over one year under the threat of deportation to Nigeria; understands that Mr Ogunwobi has lived legally in this country for an unbroken period of more than 13 years, and his wife Bumni for neary 10 years, and that their three children were all born here; believes that their enforced deportation would be wrong and rejects the Government's expressed intention to deport their young children if they stay in this country in which they were born; and calls on the Home Secretary to show compassion by exercising his discretion to allow the Ogunwobi family indefinite leave to remain.
