PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE
Petition - 17 May 2024 (Commons/Commons Chamber)
Debate Detail
“Declares that people who received infected blood and who have suffered as a consequence, have, along with their families, waited far too long for redress.”
This includes Margaret and Catherine, the widows of brothers Bill and Michael Payne, who were just two of the boys infected with contaminated blood at the now infamous Treloars school. These were boys with haemophilia, supposedly under specialist care, but—in the words of another former pupil—they were treated like lab rats. The petition also states:
“The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urges the Government to implement the recommendations in the Second Interim Report of the Infected Blood Inquiry without delay.
And the petitioners remain, etc.”
