Built around 1810 as the Marine Hotel at the south-eastern end of The Beacon, it became the Royal Beacon Hotel after the King of Saxony stayed here briefly during a state visit in 1844. The hotel's website is here http://www.royalbeaconhotel.co.uk/index.html
