The tram road from Lofthouse to Bottomboat colliery appears to have been used for the rail connections to Stanley station in the mid 19th century. All that now remains as evidence of the railway, which closed in 1964, are the two road bridges in Mount Road and Long Causeway, Image (both filled in).
