Beyond the pasture land in the foreground the landscape falls into the valley of the Cam Brook which contains the remains of the northern arm of the Somerset Coal Canal. The triangle bordered Peasedown St.John, Radstock and Clutton contains a mass of small towns and villages which owe their development and in some cases their existence to the North Somerset coalfield. Timsbury standing on the far side of the valley is one of these.
