The station was a late development on the East Coast main line only opening in 1926. Slow stopping trains generally use the two outer sets of tracks while fast trains use the two inner ones. Suburban services are currently operated by First Capital Connect with a train every 20 minutes to Moorgate with a scheduled journey time of 37 minutes. The small brick building on the right is the booking office.
