The unusual memorial/grave for George Thompson (1804-1895), Laird of Pitmedden in the 19th Century, and his family members. Thompson was Lord Provost of Aberdeen and then MP for the city. He welcomed Queen Victoria on her first visit to Aberdeen in 1848 before she travelled to Balmoral. I suspect that visitors to the isolated cemetery, formerly the site of Dyce Parish Church (now relocated to the former free church in the centre of the village) and surrounded by industrial units in the Pitmedden Road estate are few and far between...
