Linale House on the left was the first block of post-war council flats to be opened on the then new Wenlock Barn Estate in 1949. The building is named after the then Mayor of the Metropolitan Borough of Shoreditch, Alderman R G Linale. The road in front is Murray Grove. The Ordnance Survey map of 1882 shows this as Murray Street, and lined on either side with Victorian terraced housing.
