On its route from Exeter to Leicester the Fosse Way is pretty well every sort of highway from a dual carriageway A road to a muddy footpath, sometimes there is nothing at all. According to the OS as it passed Colerne airfield it is a "Road generally less than 4m wide". Wonder what would have happened if the Romans had had bicycles.
