These Houses on the Sutton Estate were erected in 1927 under the Charitable Trusts of William Sutton, a carrier of Golden Lane, London, who died in May 1900. There are similar estates in other towns throughout the U.K. The Estate has its own Community Hall and other buildings relating to the upkeep of the estate.
