Rather an ugly building on the edge of Simonburn Common. Keys to the Past Web Site: Kirkshield was built in the late 18th century. It has a datestone over the door, carved JAMES SCOTT STP 1775. Kirkshield is said to have been built as a shooting lodge for the Reverence James Scott.
