A shop and a take-away obviously converted from houses. In the left hand one the upper windows are a loft conversion. Some councils don't allow loft conversion windows at the front of houses as it changes the appearance of the row of houses. There are many more houses in adjoining streets than when these were first built, so the area needed shops.
