Now two cottages but once a coaching inn serving the Old Coach Road. This part of the turnpike operated from 1752-1819 when it was superseded by a new road that is now the A27. The owners of the Firle Estate shut down this road to prevent avoidance of tolls. I'd imagine the inn, which is also part of the Firle Estate, would have been closed soon after.
