The church of St Mary and St Ethelburga is close to the site of a former nunnery and monastery founded in 633AD by St Ethelburga. It was rebuilt by St Dunstan (Archbishop of Canterbury) in 965. Ethelburga was the daughter of King Ethelbert of Kent.
