A splendid view from the corner of St Andrew Square down to the Firth of Forth. The dominant building is the red sandstone Scottish National Portrait Gallery, which has a long frontage onto Queen Street (left at the traffic lights). On the left of the photo is the eastern elevation of the Scottish Equitable Life Assurance building (1899).
