A very short section of the St Helens Canal, also known as the Sankey Navigation, at Fiddlers Ferry is also used for mooring boats. Not surprisingly, these are moored on the offside of the canal and approached over a swing footbridge, gated to deter miscreants. In the background are the chimney and cooling towers of the coal-fired Fiddlers Ferry power station.
