St Chad's Water (a former open gravel pit) was purchased from Tarmac Roadstone by Draycott Parish Council in 1984 and turned into an open space for the benefit of the residents of Draycott and Church Wilne, it has been declared a Local Nature Reserve by Erewash Borough Council.
