The (disused) drinking fountain in the grounds of St Paul's church was one of many installed in public places around London in the early years of the 20th century. The inscription around the edge reads: "Erected by the Metropolitan Public Gardens Association of 83 Lancester Gate. The Association laid out this ground as a public garden 1913 and placed this fountain there 1914. In memory of Hugh Taylor 1817-1900 from his daughter."
