Almost opposite the War Memorial there is a viewing platform built out onto the steep slope next to the road and with two benches, one behind the other. This is the view (using telephoto to avoid encroaching trees and show more clearly the river, canal and road, and Halifax in the distance). Note, on the right, the step-like cliffs that were cut when the road was widened to a dual carriageway as part of the Elland Bypass project.
