When Robert Gore of Parsonage Farm Image married Sarah Swain, daughter of the local Herne Bay baker in 1876, they started "The Creameries" selling the farm's dairy produce from this shop in Mortimer Street. A sub-post office was later added to the business which continued to flourish. The family sold it on after the death of Sarah in 1912, and the shop continued as a feature of the town for many years.
