The recreation ground covers six acres. It has one football pitch with changing facilities. The mature deciduous trees are in magnificent condition, as is the rest of the park. As a child I was useless at football here. One part has been cordoned off now, I suppose for the nearby school (quite right too!). I can't remember the whole park being so large an area. Some bushes I recall playing in seem to have been cleared. We called it "the rec" in those days, though I don't recall the short road linking it with Woodside Road having the name "Recreation Road".
