Prospect Place was originally a hamlet of about 30 artisans' cottages that were built along the eastern side of Collier Row Lane here, and were complete by 1846 at the latest. They certainly appear to have survived until 1938 as they are still shown on the Ordnance Survey 6" to the mile edition of that year. However at some stage after that they were demolished and these three blocks of flats built in their place.
