Whilst the combine harvester is cutting and threshing the barley > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/896319 the tractor follows closely behind in order to be at hand when another load of grain is ready for transferring over, and all the time the straw emerges from the rear of the combine harvester in a continuous flow, with lots of chaff swirling through the air in its wake > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/896327. Baling the straw will be next.
