Although the whole of the roadside settlement west of here has come to be known as Dinas Cross, these terraced cottages stand beside the original crossroads where a minor road (left) runs down to Cwm-y--Eglwys and a lane leads up the hillside. It's possible that Y Cross perpetuates the name of a pub once situated here although in all likelihood The Cross Inn took its name in turn from the original intersection.
