The houses on the skyline are in the hilltop village of Mathry, seen from near Square and Compass. In 2001 a plan to sow a crop of GM wheat in this area was prevented by vigorous campaigning on the part environmental protesters, local and national. See http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/1301826.stm
