"John Gwynn designed Worcester Bridge, its approach roads and quays. Construction was begun in 1771 using sandstone shipped down the River Severn. The bridge was opened in 1781. Bridge Street with its shops and houses was completed in 1792 after his death. He is buried in St. Oswald's Hospital graveyard." He also designed Magdalen Bridge Oxford, English Bridge, Shrewsbury and Atcham Bridge. http://www.severntales.co.uk/severn_bridge_2.html
