The construction of Trinity House began in 1505 and has, since that date, housed the headquarters of a unique maritime organisation, The Corporation of The Newcastle upon Tyne Trinity House, which has been dedicated to the welfare of seafarers on the North-East coast since the Charter of Incorporation granted by King Henry VIII in 1536.
