Lode: Former Bottisham & Lode Railway Station

The Great Eastern Railway opened their Cambridge and Mildenhall Line in 1884. This station, then known as just Bottisham, was one of the intermediate stopping places. After 1891 but certainly by 1903 the station become Bottisham & Lode, possibly as a result of the creation of separate parishes for the two places in 1894, and also because the village of Bottisham was several miles away to the south-east. The line closed to passenger traffic in 1962, and the track was lifted. This is the route of the trackbed leading into the now heavily overgrown platform.
