The George Hotel, Amesbury

There was a pilgrims hostel on this site in c900 and in the seventeenth century a coaching inn. It served as the headquarters of General Fairfax during the civil war and Charles Dickens based the Blue Dragon on it from his book Martin Chuzzlewit.
