The Bombardier Shorts Aerospace building in Belfast. Founded in 1908, the company is currently celebrating 100 years of aircraft manufacture and is regarded as being the first true aviation company in the world. The company had its first roots in 1897 when brothers Eustace (1875-1932) and Oswald (1883-1969) Short took their first flight in a coal gas filled balloon. After opening several factories in England, the company was eventually relocated to Belfast in 1936. In 1989 the company was purchased by Canadian company Bombardier. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_Brothers for a full history and http://www.aerospace.bombardier.com/en/3_0/index.html for the company website. See Image for a view of the back of the factory; Conn's Water Image is in the foreground.
