This Holyhead-bound train is now heading for Bodorgan Station. At an election meeting many years ago one candidate, a stranger to the county, was asked by a local wag as to whether he was in favour of keeping open the branch line between Malltraeth viaduct and Malltraeth village - a branch line which never existed. The candidate, who, thankfully, did not win the seat, assured him that not only was he in favour of keeping the branch line open but had already had talks with the Minister of Transport about safeguarding its future. He seemed rather taken aback by the laughter which erupted from the body of the hall.
