Here, beside Ryall's war memorial, the Ryall Road joins the A38. Over the last 20 years we have seen multiple attempts to stop speeding vehicles using this short-cut (rat run) to Upton-upon-Severn. Warning signs for "old people crossing" were ignored, then lorries were banned, then the speed limit was introduced. After the speed on the A38 was also reduced (to 50mph) the rat run became more popular. Even the total ban on motorised vehicles (except for access) now in force is repeatedly ignored. Why are humans so selfish, lawless and obsessed with getting everywhere just a minute or so earlier?
